Laser is a proven and effective treatment for removing red & purple veins from the body and face.  It can also be used to help remove birthmarks, portwine marks and blood spots.

Laser treatment works by breaking down or quarterising the unwanted vein with a targeted laser beam. Following treatment the blood within the vein will dry up and be harmlessly absorbed by the body. Improvement in the thread veins can continue for many days after this, up to one month following treatment.

The laser used at the Chilston Clinic emits a beam is approximately 5mm in diameter and during treatment the patient feels a slight tingling sensation. In some cases the treatment will leave a temporary red mark that will last for a few hours, however for most patients there is no mark.

Most commonly treated areas are the legs and face. This technique can be applied to any area of the body for both men and women.

Scelerotherapy is also offered at the Chilston Clinic as appropriate.  It is an established technique for the permanent removal of thread veins.  A tiny needle is used to flush the vein with sclerotherapy solution which causes the vein to be dissolved away. This method is used less and less as lasers have improved results and reduced side effects.
