Pellevé: NEW
Pellevé, the next generation aesthetic skin-tightening treatment
The name "Pellevé" comes from the Italian "Pelle" (Skin) and the French "Lever" (to lift) and it does precisely that. Pellevé is a radiofrequency system which can only be operated by qualified professionals, to help treat wrinkles and firm the skin on the face. The system originates from the USA and was granted FDA clearance last year.
Pellevé forms part of one of the fast growing categories in aesthetics (non-invasive treatments) with currently over 250,000 treatments taking place annually.i
How does Pellevé work?
Pellevé delivers constant, gradual energy to the skin, causing heat to build up in the collagen-rich layers of the skin. The increasing heat modifies the collagen bundles deep inside the skin, causing them to contract and stimulating the growth of newcollagen over time. This results in firmer, tighter skin.
What can you expect from a Pellevé treatment?
Effects from each treatment last for approximately six months. In a clinical study, 93 patients were followed for six months after a single facial treatment and almost 90% retained photographic improvement six months later. ii
You will feel a deep warming sensation each time the Pellevé handpiece touches the skin being treated. Since no anesthetic is required, you will be able to provide feedback to the practitioner to manage any discomfort and to ensure the best possible results.
Are there any side effects of a Pellevé treatment if any?
You may experience some mild swelling and redness but this typically disappears between two to 24 hours after treatment
How long does a Pellevé treatment take?
A typical facial procedure usually takes between 45 to 60 minutes to complete and a course of three is recommended.
How does Pellevé differ from other radio frequency treatments?
Pellevé differs from other radio frequency treatments in that it can be used on very delicate and intricate areas of the face to great effect. It's perfect for an immediate boost pre-party because you can see results straight away and there is no downtime.
To summarise:
- The practitioner controls the amount of energy applied to the patient's skin
- Virtually no pain with the Pellevé treatment
- No downtime. You can be treated in the afternoon and be out on the town that night
